You walk into the lab, your claws clicking against the cold metal floor. The brief hallway leads into an elevator, with no other doorways or turns available, and a single up or down prompt, with only the down key lit. Pretty clear. You press it.

A rush of motion and a descent later, you're underground, the door of the elevator opening to reveal a short, mechanical Rixixi in front of a series of screens. Their head pivots towards you, wires unplugging from their back, shutting down the machine they were working on.

"Hello," A light, just barely inorganic voice comes from them. They don't bother to open their mouth. "You're here for the procedure, right? Since we found out how to water down Aex mutagens to give people a light shapeshifting ability, we've had folks coming in left and right."

You reply to the affirmative.

"Well, we've got plenty of supplies. Prometheus?"

They call the last part out into the back of the lab. A moment passes, and suddenly, a massive biomechanical creature opens a door in the back, its tail holding what appears to be a doctor's bag. The bulky beast pads up beside the bionic Ixi and sits down politely, their flickering, LED-styled mechanical eyes staring towards you.

"Another new experimenter?" They say, their voice a bit gruff and raspy, but deep down there's a hint of excitement and curiosity.

"Yes," Their companion says, taking the bag and removing a syringe and vial. "Where are my manners? I'm Chii, and this is Prometheus. They're a Dawn Aexend, and the donor for the mutagen in the sample you'll be taking today."

"It's pretty much safe," Prometheus interjects. "Most of the time the mutagen would turn folks into an Aex, but this stuff is altered to be minor enough to mostly just give you the ability to shapeshift. We've had a high success rate so far, but we still recommend you stay in the lab while you wait for it to take effect just in case you get any side effects. Cold sweats, adrenaline rush, mild rash, the urge to act like a movie werewolf, y'know, that sort of thing."

Chii takes that opportune moment to pass you a consent form to sign, with the aforementioned side effects and a few more listed.

"You'll likely transform involuntarily when it kicks in," Chii picks up where Prometheus left off. "When you do, we have some facilities you can use to test out your new form if you'd like. You can back out if that sounds overwhelming, but if you'd like to continue, sign below and I'll administer the injection."

Prompts

Pick 1 out of the following 2 and illustrate or write about it. Illustrations should be fully colored and fullbody with at least a somewhat detailed background. Literature should be 800+ words. You will also need to provide a flat-color image or reference of your Rixixi/B-NOMALYs new alternate form. With that, the chapter will be complete!

Lawful

You decide to stay in the lab. It's hard to resist the urge to bolt as the aforementioned adrenaline rush overcomes you, but you stay in the main room, initially sitting with a leg twitching, then moving to pacing, as Chii taps at some screens - possibly unlocking some of the aforementioned facilities.

You jolt as you feel your new form start to take over your body, the sudden change taking you by surprise. By the time it's clear what sort of new body you have, you can see the short robotic Ixi approaching you, leading you to a testing chamber that you can work your new body out in...

Chaotic

The adrenaline rush is too tempting, and you can't resist leaving the lab. Chii turns their back fairly quickly to look at the screen, but Prometheus keeps an eye on you for a long time - you can't really tell if it's out of concern or suspicion with how their face is built, unfortunately. After waiting for the Aex to turn their back seems to be getting you nowhere, you decide you might as well just take the honest approach. You just leave, turning to the elevator.

"You sure about that?"

Prometheus's voice predictably rings out, but when you turn, they aren't trying to stop you, and they do look a bit more concerned now. Chii has turned to look at you, also seemingly more concerned about lab safety than actually stopping you. They could probably lock the door if they wanted, but they haven't. The elevator light is still on, and you press the call button. The doors swing wide open.

You once again reply to the affirmative, and board the elevator.

Once you're out, you take off running, barely stopping as your new form takes you over, letting its limbs move with you. It's a different, wild sort of freedom.
