Rebel Without A Cause
Requirements outside of Karma Seasons: Completion of Here There Be Dragons: Chapter 1. Can be played by One Track Mind (+,++) Rad Sick Ixi.)
Requirements during Karma Seasons: 10 Negative Karma. Can be played by One Track Mind (+,++) Rad Sick Ixi.)
Rewards: 350 EXP
Additional rewards during Karma Seasons: 15 Negative Karma
In addition to the above rewards, all members who complete Rebel Without A Cause will obtain a slot to Rebel. Only one slot can be obtained this way, while the EXP and Karma rewards can be repeated.
Replayable.
You're out late helping clean up the mine when you hear something moving behind a boulder pile. Moving closer to investigate, you see a rather large shadow scurry back into the heap, accidentally knocking several over. You step back, unsure whether to deal with the thing hiding inside the mound of rocks that you and the other helpers have just cleaned out, or to clean up the mess.
You hear a deep, yet meek voice come from behind the pile before you can decide.
"Sorry," Says the thing that slithered behind it. "Please... don't tell anyone that I'm here."
You're about to crouch to make eye contact with whatever's in there, but when your eyes adjust to the low light, you realize you don't need to crouch. The creature inside looks mostly like a Rixixi, but... bigger in pretty much every way. Huge horns and fins, wings, a crest that they've painted with bright colors, and while they're about the size of a standard Rixixi, they're buff, and it makes them stand out.
"Hi," They say, sheepishly, looking like an embarrassed child who got caught doing something wrong. "I'm sorry."
You don't know what they're sorry for.
"For bringing down the mine. I'm sorry. I didn't know it was here. I was just trying to tunnel out."
This creature is the one who brought down this mine? Accidentally? This badly? You're not really sure how to react to that.
"I wanted to say I was sorry to the miners, but the camp doesn't talk to the people in the Steps, because they don't like outsiders. We don't want to make them upset," Says the stranger. "I think they know we're back here, honestly, but we're not allowed. I don't like being stuck back here, so I was leaving. My magic is Land, but I am clumsy. I came up and suddenly the entire world was coming down on me, and no matter where I ran to, it kept happening."
Yikes. That's actually pretty messed up.
Prompts
Pick 1 out of the following 2 and illustrate or write about it. Illustrations should be fully colored and fullbody with at least a somewhat detailed background. Literature should be 800+ words. An NPC will write up a reaction to which a second piece must be made. (Fullbody, color, and background OR 600+ words) Upon completion of the second piece, this chapter will be complete!
If you can't come up with a response to the prompt you're provided, you may ask for a new one - also, do know that you don't have to base your entire response around it so long as you address the prompt somehow. We'll probably appreciate creative interpretations!
"Can you help me?" The creature suddenly says. "I brought a gift for the miners, but I can't be the one who gives it to them. Maybe they don't want to see me anyways. Can you deliver it as an apology?"
Maybe. What kind of person are you dealing with, anyways?
The creature snorts amicably. "They call me Rebel, so I call me Rebel. Screwup extraordinaire, and now the captain of terrible escape attempts. I just want to explore. I'm sorry for my bad luck. I'll be going in a minute, whether or not you take the gift, okay?"
That seems genuine enough, and they do have a pretty personable sense of humor. You could take their gift basket to the miners. Then again, if you just turn your back and walk away, this would be someone else's problem. What's your choice...?
