Chapter 1

Major Miner Maladies
Requirements: None. Can be played by One Track Mind (+,++) Rad Sick Ixi.)
Rewards: 200 EXP
Additional rewards during Karma Seasons: 5 Karma (positive or negative depends on path)
Replayable.
You follow the directions given by the news bulletin, citing it as your reason for going so deeply into the Nether Steps when questioned by the locals, and eventually make it to the collapsed mine.

It's a mess. The place looks like it's been hit by an earthquake. Steps Denizens and Outsiders alike haul fallen rock out of a pit. It takes you a while to realize that the pit once was the mine itself. The entire cave has been downed. Someone claps a hand on your back, and you turn to look.

"Dangers of working in a cave system, outsider," Says a tall, bulky Ixi, clearly a denizen of the Nether Steps. "Still, we rarely get something as bad as this. Lucky for us it happened at night - barely anyone was working inside. According to some scout Mymbers, there's a couple folks trapped inside a tunnel, not hurt badly, but we need to dig 'em out. We've pulled out some other folks who were actually injured, but they were closer to the surface, so we already got 'em. We'd appreciate the help clearing the rubble out."

Prompts

Pick 1 out of the following 2 and illustrate or write about it. Illustrations should be fully colored and fullbody with at least a somewhat detailed background. Literature should be 800+ words. An NPC will write up a reaction to which a second piece must be made. (Fullbody, color, and background OR 600+ words) Upon completion of the second piece, this chapter will be complete!

If you can't come up with a response to the prompt you're provided, you may ask for a new one - also, do know that you don't have to base your entire response around it so long as you address the prompt somehow. We'll probably appreciate creative interpretations!

Of course you'll help - if it's bad enough that the people of the Steps are asking for help en masse, it's already obviously bad, and now you've seen it with your own eyes.

You hop down into the pit and get ready to lift some rocks. The burly Rixixi who spoke to you before follows you down. Looks like you'll have some help if you want it, too - good thing, honestly, some of these are practically boulders.

Time to get to it!

Chaotic

Let's be real, it's a pretty awful thought, but... why not take what you can while you're here? They rarely let outsiders into mines this deep into the Steps, you could make off with some valuable goods.

They've already got a lot of people helping, and even if they didn't, nothing's saying you can't help and make off with the treasure if you wanna be kind about it. They might not even notice with everything going on.
