Factions are some of the most well-known Scatterings on Sxriix. They have a major influence on the social climate of Sxriix, and are often responsible for keeping things functional - whether it's the tunnels bolstering the economy, the atmosphere and canopy watching out for natural disasters and keeping civilians safe, the galaxy on cleanup crew and forging new paths in space travel, and even the chasm investigations fighting horsemen - the Factions are a major part of Sxriix'n culture.
Picturing your Rixixi with another Rixixi of the same faction grants +10 Training Mode EXP. This includes starters and NPCs (including Non-Rixixi NPCs)!
Mechanix can also join factions! There's no reason why not!
To join a Faction, your Rixixi must have completed Main Quest Chapter 3. Your Rixixi can only be in one Faction, but you can change your faction - changing faction removes your Rixixi's prior boons (with the exception of currency and items - those won't be removed). Changing your faction requires 10 of your current faction's associated currency!

Scattering Purpose: The Tunnels faction branches out into subgroups mostly related to spending large amounts of time in underground and cave zones or utilizing the items therein. They deal primarily in mining, but also in spelunking, archaeology, architecture, literal underground combat rings, strength training, barter, and several others. Most Tunnels Rixixi are physically strong, valuing manual labor and the protection of others, but they also employ small, intelligent Ixi - there's nothing stopping them from training, bartering, and being medics! Wiry runners are also incredibly helpful to the Tunnels cause.

Scattering Purpose: The Canopy faction handles conservation of limited natural resources and research into renewable resources. The Underground Forest is a result of a major project headed by the Canopy long ago. The Canopy also handles general protection of rural areas and watching out for potential natural disasters by way of elemental radiation, and warning any nearby inhabitants if possible. Many rangers operating in the Sxriix'n wilds and rural city limits are Canopy faction, and those that aren't in the faction themselves will almost always work with them.

Scattering Purpose: Atmosphere's main focus is the updating and expansion of maps (typically Sxriix-based, but cartographers for hire can easily work with spacefarers) and deep exploration. Other work of note include meteorological studies and patrolling the local area, often crossing over with the Canopy's work to protect civilians from disasters. Atmosphere's work crosses over heavily with other Factions, which works out well for them as a Faction based around travel. Atmosphere trades heavily in information - not only their findings from explorations and patrols, but also any form of knowledge that can be shared.

Scattering Purpose: Galaxy branches out into groups divided into two major focuses: space and dimensional travel, and radiation safety. Branches include chasmjumpers, space travellers, ship builders and mechanics, scientists, and hazmat teams including Fang's Quarantine Ring. Galaxy branches out well from space travel (and the potential hazards of other worlds' atmospheres) to containment and cleanup of especially bad environmental hazards back on Sxriix due to dual purpose of Galaxy's protective gear.

Scattering Purpose: The purpose of Chasm Investigations is to keep an eye on Chasm activity in the other worlds. While the benefits of Chasmjumping are known to many, and several beings from the Chasm have integrated just fine into less-radiated society, some Chasm beings can't exist outside of it without warping the area around it, and some permanent rifts tend to alter reality. Chasm Investigations are here to make sure life is still habitable for those of you that are just plain normal, because they know what it's like to be abnormal.
