They tell her that there's no evidence of anything larger than a human or O'urtnx in the ruins of Lumina. No Kyaine - all of them died at the shore - no Taranan, and certainly not a Guardian. She has to wonder at the last one. It's not like anyone's seen Malaicacynne in a thousand years, so how would anyone find yet another missing god? She laughs, and she bakes.
A cold chill sweeps her spine on her way to her job selling her baked goods, and she turns. Something dark stands in an alley - like a large dog, maybe. She can't quite make it out from this distance. With a shrug, the woman reaches into her bag, and tosses a loaf of bread to the creature. There's a flash, a gleam of light across the shore, and the figure in the shadows disappears as soon as it passes.
So did the loaf, it seems.
With a laugh, the baker reaches into her bag, pulling out an old, weathered coin. She gives it a gentle kiss and flips it into the sea, light and shadows gleaming off of its indistinguishable sides.
