LIMITS ON GENOS
Genos are fairly popular as wishes in Euphoria, so we've set up some rules in order to both balance the game mechanic and also explain it better!
Gene Limits:
- Genos obtained via Euphoria can have up to 20 Genes - this encompasses both Markings and Mutations.
- There is no limit on how many markings or mutations of each rarity is allowed. Combination mutations count as one mutation.
- Dominant genes are not allowed.
- Subspecies are allowed. A subspecies counts as one additional gene.
- Fogshards may be used on the geno after the fact to surpass the 20 gene limit, however, if a gene that was specifically asked for is swapped away, The Eye may restrict the player from obtaining that gene until 3 more Euphoria rolls pass. (No penalty if the gene was randomized and not asked for, or if the gene was swapped away after a correction.)
Randomization vs Customization:
You may do any of the following:
- Ask for a geno that could replicate an OC of yours.
- Ask for a specific geno that you've written out.
- Ask for specific genes, but request for further genes to be randomized.
- Ask for a fully randomized geno.
- Ask for certain genes on a theme.
- Ask for randomized genes on a basic theme.
- Any combination of the above.
However, please keep in mind that if you do any of the following, The Eye may not allow a gene to show up until 3 more Euphoria rolls pass:
- Request a geno/semi-custom based off a character and make something entirely different with the resulting geno.
- Request a specific geno and swap out the requested genes.
If you put a Euphoria geno into Design Approval and get sent to corrections, this possible penalty is no longer relevant. You're free to scrap an idea if it's not working out.
Radiation Sickness:
All genos from Euphoria will have Stage 3 Radiation Sickness. How many types they have is decided by how high their gene count is.
- 0-5 Gene genos will have 1 type of Radiation Sickness.
- 6-10 Gene genos will have 2 types of Radiation Sickness.
- 11-15 Gene genos will have 3 types of Radiation Sickness.
- 16-20 Gene genos will have 4 types of Radiation Sickness.
- Further, 14+ Gene genos automatically have Infertility+ as one of their Radiation Sicknesses.
You may request to have or avoid ONE Radiation Sickness type. You may only request one Radiation Sickness type in this manner. You can, however, wish for your Ixi to have Radiation Sickness changed on a later visit.
Starters:
- Lineage (2 starters) will be assigned when the geno is generated, however, if 10 or more genes are added before or during Design Approval, a third starter may be added for balancing's sake.
- You may request certain starters to be included or avoided for breeding's sake!
- If you want an entire lineage to be included (eg. "I want this to be xyz other Ixi's sibling", "No lineage", etc), it is preferred for that to be included in the Euphoria wish!
REROLLS
You will be offered a chance to reroll when presented with a geno. You may want to do this for a number of reasons - if the geno was randomized and came out absolutely bizarre, if the Radiation Sickness wound up too punishing, if you made a typo in your request and would rather have a different one, etc.
This does have a limitation: you cannot reroll the same wish - you must reroll to a different wish (eg. if you got a Something You Do Not Have geno, you can reroll for your Knowledge or Anything At All wish). If your Something You Do Not Have and Anything At All geno were the same geno, you can only "reroll" to get your Knowledge wish.
Randomized rerolled genos are being saved for a future event, and may show up in the future and even be adoptable. Any rerolled genos with specifically-chosen genes won't be saved for this - we're only using genos completely made by RNG, not by someone else. Please feel free to ask about these plans in your knowledge wishes, it is a future event after all!
CHASMBORN
Chasmborn genos refer to Ixi bred in technically impossible scenarios using an Anything At All wish, for example,
breeding a Rixixi with The Eye themself. This does not apply to Ixi being bred to other Ixi in Euphoria situations.
Limits:
- Like other Euphoria breedings, only one geno will be produced.
- While this method can be used for interspecies breeding, please only use this with sapient species. Non-sapients may be effectively 'spliced' or 'transmuted' into a Euphoria geno, but they may not be bred with.
- Please do not attempt to crossbreed with someone else's closed species or other intellectual property. However, all sapients in the Chasm-Connected bestiary are fine.
- Attempting to breed with any of the Danger roll opponents (FaceDown's Illusionates or AlternateFatality's Beast) from Chasmjumping will result in a success or fail check. You can absolutely ask about them, they just may not be in a good mood.
Radiation Sickness:
- All Chasmborn will have three Stage 3 Radiation Sicknesses no matter what.
- If crossbred with a creature from the Chasm, there is a high chance that the creature has Contagion++. In this case, the Chasmborn cub will also have Contagion+ and a random Stage 2 Radiation Sickness.
- You may request to have or avoid ONE Radiation Sickness type. You may only request one Radiation Sickness type in this manner. You can, however, wish for your Ixi to have Radiation Sickness changed on a later visit.
